Michael William Alexander, Jr.

NCCER Plumbing Program/Plumbing Technician Instructor Michael William Alexander, Jr.’s tenacity to overcome obstacles makes him an excellent teacher. His 20 years of experience ensure that he helps students thrive.

Richard Cochran

Professional Building Maintenance Training Instructor Richard Cochran is a native Washingtonian who grew up in Southeast DC. He obtained several nationally recognized certifications at UDC, started teaching, and found his calling in the construction trade.

Tony Diaz

IT Instructor Tony Diaz has worked in technology for 30 years, including his current job for the US Dept. of State as an Information Management Specialist. He’s been a computer instructor for 20+ years.

Edme Groguhe

Telecommunications & Broadband Instructor Edme Groguhe has 15+ years of teaching experience and cares about his students. A certified C-Tech instructor in telecom, he is responsible for the certifications of over 200 DC residents.

Scott Lindsay

Electrical Instructor Scott Lindsay is a DC native, a certified NCCER Master Trainer and Craft Instructor for electrical work and a performance evaluator and proctor. Credentials include: Journeyman Electrician License, OSHA certification, Confined Space Hazard Awareness training, and Aerial Work Platform Operator Training.

Tracey Parham

Child Development Associate Credentialing Program Coordinator/Instructor Tracey Parham is a native Washingtonian. She has an MA in Adult Education and 20+ years of professional experience in Early Childhood in classrooms across DC and Maryland.

Culinary Arts Instructor Chef Scott Ulen worked in restaurant kitchens for 15 years and has taught for 6 years. He helped to build kitchens with a positive culture where staff were always learning and reaching their potential.

1st CDL Training Center of NOVA is UPO’s partner, offering professional training for Class B CDL licensure and Bus Training in DC, Virginia, and Maryland. They offer full-time sessions with both in-classroom and in-vehicle training.
