UPO’s Workforce Institute works to decrease the number of unemployed residents in the District of Columbia through job training and job placement.
This October we helped prepare more than 200 residents for direct employment opportunities at an employer hiring fair, hosted at the Frank D. Reeves Municipal Center. Employers present at the fair included, Shapiro and Duncan, Canada Dry Potomac, G2 Secure Staff, Transdev, and a host of other companies looking to hire immediately.
In advance of the employment fair, UPO’s Workforce Institute held small pre-screening sessions to review resumes, complete online applications, and conduct mock interviews. Sessions were held at the Dorothy I. Height Public Library, UPO’s Petey Greene Community Service Center, and The Watha T. Daniel Public Library.
Our team is committed to uniting local employers with low-income job seekers. Residents can come meet our job placement team every Monday -Thursday from 10 am – 3 pm at UPO’s Petey Greene Community Service Center, 2907 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE.
